Located within the grounds of AKAGANE RESORT KYOTO HIGASHIYAMA 1925, Salon de KANBAYASHI is a charming café offering an elegant afternoon tea set.
Pass through the stately gate and stroll through a lush courtyard to reach the Bōrō-tō (watchtower building), a detached space where the tea is served.
The five-tiered afternoon tea set, “Kyoto KASANE”, is presented in a five-tiered jubako (traditional stacked boxes), inspired by the nearby Yasaka Pagoda. Each layer is filled with seasonal sweets and savory delights.
Relax and savor your tea time in this Taisho-era (1912–1926) architectural gem, surrounded by beautiful scenery visible through its windows.
Five-Tiered Afternoon Tea “Yozora no Kyo-KASANE” – Summer Night Sky in Kyoto
Available from June to August, this seasonal menu is inspired by the shimmering night sky of summer. The five-tiered presentation features delights that evoke cool, serene scenes—such as fresh seasonal fruits like juicy peaches, mizu-yokan (a chilled red bean jelly) inspired by a starlit sky, and a matcha gâteau opera reminiscent of a kare-sansui (dry landscape garden).
Every bite and layer captures the essence of a Kyoto summer, engaging all five senses.
Drinks are served in a café-style, including original sencha from Kanbayashi Shunsho Honten and organic teas from the San Francisco-based brand Mighty Leaf.
